August 1983

Neil is sent to New York by Smash Hits to interview The Police. By this time the Pet Shop Boys are obsessed by a stream of hi energy records made by New York producer Bobby Orlando, known as Bobby O’. “I thought well, if I’ve got to go and see The Police play then I’m also going to have lunch with Bobby O’ ”. Neil and Bobby O share a cheeseburger and carrot cake at a restaurant called The Apple Jack on August 19th (two years to the day since Neil and Chris met) and Bobby O’, flatered by Neil’s compliments, suggests making a record with the Pet Shop Boys.

The Pet Shop Boys kick off their MCMLXXXIX Tour in Hong Kong.

1997

The Boys perform at Finland’s Turku Festival.

2011

This evening in London, Neil and Chris attend the English National Opera’s acclaimed premier production of the opera Two Boys by composer Nico Muhly and librettist Craig Lucas.

2013

They bring their Electric Tour show to Stockholm.

2017

The German leg of the Super Tour continues this evening with the Boys performing in Dresden.

2019

Taped on June 23, the guest appearance of Neil, Jonathan Harvey, and Frances Barber airs on Graham Norton’s BBC Radio 2 show (the last one before his summer break) to talk about the Boys’ new cabaret stage show Musik, starring Ms. Barber. Later this same evening, attendees at The Killers’ headlining performance at the Glastonbury Festival receive a huge surprise when the Pet Shop Boys suddenly appear onstage as unannounced special guests to duet with the headliners on two songs: ‘Always on My Mind’ and The Killers’ own ‘Human.’

2020

Having revised the lyrics, Neil re-records his vocal on ‘The Schlager Hit Parade.’

2024

The Dreamworld Tour comes to Hannover, Germany.
