Visiting Prospect Cottage in Dungeness, Kent, the former home and garden of Derek Jarman. I have many happy memories of visiting Derek here in the late 80s and early 90s. One sunny spring afternoon in 1989 we sat outside drinking tea and discussing ideas for our first tour production which Derek directed. We are so sad to hear that Dave Ball, the keyboard genius of Soft Cell, has died. He was an electronic pop pioneer and with Marc Almond made a unique catalogue of songs, completely original in sound and content. Our love and condolences go to Marc and all those close to Dave. Yesterday we went to Wilton’s Music Hall for the dress rehearsal and then the first preview of “Musik”, the Jonathan Harvey/PSB show starring the brilliant Frances Barber as Billie Trix.
