The Pet Shop Boys’ Late Night Prom concert at the Royal Albert Hall will take place tonight at 10.15. Performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Dominic Wheeler, the programme will consist of:
1. “Overture to ‘Performance’ ”, arranged by Richard Niles.
2. “Four songs in A minor”, arranged by Angelo Badalamenti and sung by Chrissie Hynde.
3. “A Man From The Future”, an evocation of the life and work of Alan Turing written by Tennant and Lowe with biographer Andrew Hodges, with orchestrations by Sven Helbig. Performed by Pet Shop Boys, the BBC Concert Orchestra and the BBC Singers and narrated by Juliet Stevenson. Seated tickets for the concert are sold out but 1000 standing “Prom” tickets, priced £5.00, are available from the Royal Albert Hall box office from 7.45 pm tomorrow. We are sad to hear that the distinguished British photographer Martin Parr, famous for his wryly distinctive images of everyday life, has died. In 2002 we asked him to direct the video for our song “London” and he made a short film which, in its combination of urban pathos and quirky London street life, was instantly recognisable as his work.
