On June 19th at the BFI (British Film Institute) in London there will be a screening of the classic silent film, “Battleship Potemkin”, accompanied by the recorded Pet Shop Boys/Dresdner Sinfoniker score written by Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe. The soundtrack was originally performed live in Trafalgar Square in 2004; this is the first time the film and soundtrack will be presented in a cinema setting. The screening is part of this year’s Meltdown Festival, curated by Yoko Ono, and will be preceded by a short discussion about the soundtrack with Philip Dodd (former director of the ICA who commissioned the soundtrack) and Neil and Chris. Further information and ticket details can be found at the link below.
Pet Shop Boys Volume has officially entered the Sunday Times bestseller list at number two. Earlier last week, the book went straight to number one in the UK Independent Bookshop Top 20. Thanks to everyone who has bought a copy of “Volume” so far. xx
